You might remember that I went on a slight tangent about a game called Afterlife a couple weeks back (a few days till it closes, which really puts a damper on things, but ah well). During the period when I first found out about all this, I tried to look for as many fans as possible to see what they were doing to come together. It was while I was in the game where I discovered a person called Goiigoiiz advertising a Discord server.
Although I'm one to be very hesitant to join something, I decided to copy the link they gave and join the server...
I've honestly never felt so comfortable somewhere in my life.
I'm greeted by two people off the bat, Goii (such a cinnamon roll, can't talk to them as much as time zones), and Sunny, the owner. While she can be a bit shy, she's honestly so sweet and welcoming. You can chat to her on the server and it just feels like time flies by. She also hosts art streams sometimes too, when her internet cooperates. As an owner, she does really well with maintaining her server and I've loved every second on it.
More people have joined, and more sections of the server have been created because of it, making it worthwhile as the group grows. Right now, there's only 4/5 of us on there every day (Myself, Crystal, Lex, Sunny, quite often Snow too), but the people who have joined don't feel too pressured to speak. Nor does anyone pressure them to do so. It's a calm bubble that can help us just relax in the chaos.
As the actual server was made due to Afterlife closing, quite a few things are referenced in there. It's basically like how other fandoms work, with running jokes, fan theories. and just linking stuff that doesn't make sense. We bring stuff up quite often in what we do or talk about. Even with people scurrying to complete stories, we can help out with what resources we have in order to inform others.
While I'm only speaking from my experience with this after a month, I've genuinely enjoyed just the community, even if it's small on here. Does this feel like a childish reflection? Yes, to an extent I feel I'm being childish Do I mind? No, not at all. If anything, being able to find somewhere I can relax and talk as myself is quite refreshing.
No need to explain why I post, no one feeling obligated to know me on a personal level. Hell, no one actually knowing who I am properly, but slowly learning as I learn about them. While timezones are a major issue, it's a blast to keep learning about when people'll be on and what will be chatted about today.
While this may be a short monologue, it's still Christmas. To all of you, I wish you the happiest of times and the merriest of New Years (or whatever you're supposed to say)
To Sunny, Lex and Crystal if you see this..... stay safe, stay well and stay as you are as you're all great!
