As the final weeks of at least getting ourselves together closes, a new door opens for my course, as the next semester is here!
...Yup, that sounds like an eccentric 60s teen drama.
After at least a few weeks sorting out essays, trying to figure out our timetables and remembering that emails are a thing, we can safely say there's room for improvement on both ends of the spectrum.
Of course on the pupil's side, it's a little harder due to (ahem) certain factors. Whether we're back at uni or scattered across the world, we have our own stuff to adapt to. If you don't have a space that screams in your face "Oi! Get to work!", chances are you'll stray off and not feel 100% focused. The same can be said for the atmosphere in the house, but everyone can focus better in different environments.
This term will definitely be different (for my course at least) mainly due to starting away from the uni itself. I was lucky last term as the situation allowed for us to at least be in a class room, but the surrealism of technology teaching seems to prevail.
New term also brings new topics (hooray), which at least means a good chunk of the week filled in with revision and bulk studying (funnily had my first new session today... I found out a lot more why Wales has less power than England). With the looming doom of exams creeping ever so slowly, there's at least some sort of time before panic sets in.
So no free time, nothing outdoors as lockdowns, and more work for the future.... Anything to actually look forward to?
Well, if you were curious, certain conventions like Hyper Japan have started sending emails out to talk about a month long campaign during the summer in order to keep the spirit alive! I'm definitely looking at that as I've loved that since I was younger (and was hoping that moving to Brighton would equal being closer if it were to happen... thanks COVID). So, if you like those sorts of things, keep your eyes peeled. Never know what you might find.
Unfortunately, not much else to say, since the ideal plans of a student have flown out the window, into orbit, and refuse to come down unless I bribe it with mashed potato (don't ask, I don't know either).
Not everything is lost though... at least we can binge watch stuff.
